3- Kennedy H: Memoir to my First Hydroflask

Above is the only known photo of my first hydroflask. It went through many stickers, falls, and travels and maybe wasn’t washed as much as it should have been. But my hydroflask was recently lost during finals week and still has not made its way back to me so it is presumed dead, but one water bottle surely served me well over the last two and a half years and now deserves some recognition in honor of it’s loss. My hydroflask has embodied many stickers emarking anything I wanted to put on it. I can remember certain stickers from Hume Lake where I would go to camp with my church’s youth group, stickers from things I liked to watch like Mandalorian and Harry Potter. My first Will. C Wood kindness week bracelet has been placed on the bottom since my Freshman year.

Besides just being my water bottle, it was my companion during my travels and my alone time. It accompanied me to my first ¾ of high school during freshman year, skiing the last 2 winters in Tahoe, during my 3 week road trip of July 2020. And it got through the majority of my first semester back in real school as of my junior year of 2021. This hydroflask went to more high school than half the current school’s student population and had a special place in my heart. A joking term about an emotional support water bottle has been made by Generation Z, but I find it to be true with this hydroflask. It went most places with me, not always in my hand, maybe just sitting in my car but I still had it with me. It was heavy and leaked on my stuff so many times with it’s stubborn lid but kept me hydrated and served me well during its duration. Currently I have to use  a purple one but I will always miss my first hydroflask and would have loved to see it last me through highschool and maybe even into my adulthood. But at last that is no longer possible, so this memoir is a formal goodbye and telling of the life of my first hydroflask.

  1. Kennedy, I thought the title for your blog was perfect. You provided good insight into the stickers you put on your hydro flask and your experiences bringing it places. I liked when you said it went to more high school than most current students. Overall, I thought you honored your hydro flask in a lighthearted, fun way.
