JOY- Hinata Shouyou

  • Hinata Shouyou is unique in the sense that he is grateful for every experience he is given, and overjoyed by the smallest experiences in his life. He travels through life with the belief that negative experiences are only temporary, and will eventually be overcome with positive ones.

  • This thought process is helpful to others around him, with Hinata often acting as the motivator of his team.

SADNESS- Cassie Howard

  • Cassie Howard´s character from Euphoria is built upon the sadness and insecurity she feels as a young, popular, and beautiful high school girl.

  • She covers the deep rooted sadness she feels with her sexuality, and relies on male attention to distract her.

  • The audience knows little about her interests, hobbies, and beliefs, solely because she simply has none. The sadness she feels is all encompassing and dominates every portion of her life. She is a perfect example of the emotion for this reason, and doesn't seem to display any other emotion throughout the series.

FEAR-Marie Adler

  • The majority of Netflix´s ¨Unbelievable¨ follows Marie Adler´s journey through the criminal justice system after her experience being raped.

  • However, the other portion of the show conveys the constant and unrelenting fear that she´d undergone afterwards, and the very justified social walls she built up in order to avoid ever experiencing assault again.

ANGER- Shinobu Kochō

  • Shinobu´s silent yet raging anger towards demons is often what drives the show Demon Slayer forward. She doesn't show her emotions often, presumably because it would scare or intimidate her pupils, but when she does it is a collective representation of the pain she felt at the hands of demons.

  • While her first response is rarely explosive, I find that she burdens herself with the most resentment compared to others, and is silently consumed by the anger she feels.

DISGUST- Akira Fudo

  • Akira´s blind trust in his childhood friend Ryo is what inherently sets up for the disgust he feels in his actions. It hadn't been difficult for Akira to believe that his friend was a morally just person, but was much more shocked to find that he actually wasn´t.

  • He didn't believe that Ryo was capable of the actions he´d committed, which added to the element of surprise he felt by the end of the series. Although he had known him since their youth, there was no way Akira could´ve fully understood each of Ryo´s actions or thought processes, which he was ultimately disgusted by.
