2- Kennedy H: "I am From"

I am From change

Parents apart, houses around Solano

New parents relationships

Friendships and people who fall out of my life

But I am also from Love

Time with my dad falling asleep in his arm on the couch as a girl

Many dogs and toys to fill my arms and my time

Big family and cousins my age

I am from stubbornness

Sitting in my dinner chair squinting my face because I hate most fruits and vegetables

Never wanting to not have a goal or life plan

Not wanting to have below an A

I am from experiences

Seeing firsthand how to be with babies and gain skills

Ride my Great Uncle’s quads in Arizona almost every thanksgiving break

Knowing more country songs then I could imagine from my parents constantly playing them on the radio

Skiing every winter with my dad

Trying many sports even if average at them

I am from independency

Playing in my room by myself with stuffed animals and boxes I drew on

An imagination with peak art skills in the 2nd grade

Choosing to take part in sports in high school

Mapping out what I need to accomplish parts of my future

But I am from my dad

My inspiration to work hard and to change from mistakes

To enjoy life but stay practical

To do your best not just try

To fill gaps when you need to

To do small things for others when they don't realize they need it

For humor, calmness, and support

I am from emotion

Hurt and betrayal you come to realize in life

But pursuing  forgiveness and boundaries

To good and bad days being normal

But big feelings don’t need to consume you

But if they do others are there for you

You can miss or wonder what could have been

But the result was the best that could happen

I am from change

I am from support

I am from love

I am from hard work

  1. Kennedy I loved reading your poem. I liked the part where you talked about when you were little and you didn't want to eat your vegetables. The picture you put to with it really shows your character when you were little. I also liked the part where you talked about experience and trying new things even though you may struggle at first. Also I could really relate to the country music playing 24/7 on the radio and not knowing anything other than country music. Loved that I could relate to your poem. You did a very good job!
