Growing up I enjoyed a lot of tv shows. Some of my favorites were Regular Show, Ben 10, and Spongebob. However, one show stood above the rest in my mind. That show is Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Ever since I was a little kid I have been watching ATLA. Its epic story feels like something out of a Tolkien book rather than a cartoon for children. The characters are interesting and it has one of the best redemption arcs in all of entertainment history. ATLA’s worldbuilding is simple yet effective and soon you begin to notice all the little animals and landscapes. ATLA also explains to the viewer the context of the show without it feeling out of place. All these add up to make one of the best shows of all time.
Sokka is my favorite character in Avatar: The Last Airbender. One of the reasons Sokka is my favorite character is his humor. He is one of the funniest character’s I have ever seen in fiction. Another reason he is my favorite is that he doesn’t have bending powers. Despite being seen as regular he is strong and is an excellent planner. Sokka is my favorite character in ATLA.
Due to its excellent plot, characters, and worldbuilding, ATLA is my favorite show from my childhood.

Hi Connor, I love Avatar: The Last Airbender too! What I love about it is that it is such a well made show that goes deeper than a normal cartoon compared to the ones you listed. I watched it as a child, then rewatched it as a teenager and it touches a lot on character development as well. This really helps you connect with the characters. Personally, one of my favorite characters is Uncle Iroh and of course Sokka as well.

It is very well written for a kids show, but it's my personal opinion that all shows for children should be this well done; kids are intelligent too and deserve good media to grow their minds. My personal character is Zuko because of his amazing character arc. Great job, Connor! :)
