Graduation
In high school, it's easy to go into autopilot and forget why you need to do good on that test coming up, or need to cram in all your upcoming assignments one night. Sure, the obvious answer is your grades, but what do those grades mean?
To me, those grades mean graduating. And graduating with enough or more than enough to propel me into a decent college after graduation. After being in school since you're 4, maybe 5 years old, it gets tiring after all this time. But most of us, including me, only have 2 and a half semesters left. Why come all this way just to settle?
After rephrasing it that way, I realize we don't have much time until we're on our own, and the routine of school which we've known our whole life is behind us now, and college is the next chapter. But that's still a decent time ahead, so let's focus on graduation first.
For most of us, graduating and receiving your diploma is one of the most important things you do in life. I can't wait to celebrate and finally feel the relief that comes with knowing my work has paid off. I also look forward to seeing the entire class of 2023 graduate with me, knowing our experience will always be unique as we haven't had a fully normal year of high school due to the pandemic. (Which could still change next year, hopefully)
Until I can celebrate that moment, I have to keep working. Writing this blog has helped me wake up and realize that I need to get out of my current slump and finish the year strong. I hope this may help any of you experiencing the same thing as well. I look forward to seeing you at graduation!

Richard, I liked how you described the meaningful time ahead for graduation. It really opened my eyes to what it means to settle and how important it is to finish strong in all of the work. I’m also looking forward to seeing you at graduation. Overall, good job!
ReplyDeleteHi richard! You made really great points throughout this blog and just the thought of graduating makes me sad and happy at the same time. 12 long years at school, we’ve gone a long way and I do too hope to see everyone at graduation.
